Redondo Beach Yacht Club and Shoreline Yacht Club

Annual Queen Mary Regatta, July 10,
2010
ELIGIBILITY:
This race is open to all yachts 20’ and over with a valid PHRF certificate whose skipper is a member of a yacht club recognized by SCYA. Yachts who wish to race in a Non-spinnaker fleet need not be yacht club members, and non-spinnaker fleet yachts without a valid PHRF certificate will receive a PHRF rating from the Race Committee (non-spin class splits will be determined by base ratings). Multi-hulls are encouraged to enter, and will be placed and scored in a separate class. Entry fee is $30.00 by July 8, 2010 or $35.00 thereafter.
RULES:
This regatta will be governed by the 2009-2012 Racing Rules of the ISAF, and the PHRF rules except as they are altered by this NOR and the Sailing Instructions (to be provided separately).
RACE COURSE:
The course will begin outside King Harbor in the vicinity of race buoy "S". Take Palos Verdes Point Buoy R10, Point Fermin Buoy R6, Long Beach Harbor entrance light, and Oil Island White to port. The finish will be between an orange inflatable mark mid-channel abeam the stern of the Queen Mary and an orange over white flag on the Shoreline Marina Mole, across channel from the Queen Mary. The multi-hull fleet will start at 1200 noon. Remaining classes will start on 5-min intervals thereafter. The handicap distance is 23 nautical miles.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available from both yacht clubs (check either club’s websites). The Sailing Instructions will include descriptions of the start sequence and flags, starting and finishing areas, slip arrangements, and other pertinent information. PHRF class breaks will be posted at RBYC on race day.
AWARDS: As soon
as possible after the race on the east deck
of the Shoreline Yacht Club. Awards to be distributed per Class
by number
of starters. Three starters, one award, five starters, two
awards, nine
or more starters, at least three awards.
HOSPITALITY FOR 2010:
RBYC will open be from about 1700 Friday evening for dinner and drinks; the dinner will be served at 1900 for $16.00 per person; Ribeye steak, corn casserole, green salad and peach cobbler dessert. A free continental breakfast will be served at RBYC on Saturday at 0800. A full breakfast menu will be available at SYC at 0730 on Sunday for $7.00.
A Racer’s Special Tri-tip Sandwich for $7 will be featured at Shoreline Yacht Club after the race. Regular dinner service is also available with advance reservation starting at 1800; make a dinner reservation at scylb@hotmail.com or by calling SYC at (562) 435-4093.

SLIPS
on Friday Night:
Overnight slippage will be available in King Harbor for yachts coming from Long Beach and elsewhere. To request/reserve a Friday slip night in King Harbor, please contact RBYC’s Vice Commodore Kathi Sheridan at shoegal456@yahoo.com or 818-326-1433 as early as possible.
SLIPS
on Saturday Night:
Overnight slippage will also be available in the Shoreline (Downtown) Marina. Each slip assignment in the Shoreline Marina requires a copy each of a valid proof of insurance, vessel documentation or registration, and personal identification. No papers, no slip. To request a Saturday night slip at Shoreline contact the SYC Port Captain directly Peter Wainwright at 714-615-2712 or peter.j.wainwright@boeing.com , as early as possible. Yachts will be pre-assigned slips on the basis of when skippers notify the SYC Port Captain of their need for one. Every effort will be made to accommodate, but yachts that don't reserve may have to wait until all of those that did are assigned slips. Check-out time for slips at SYC is by 1030 on Sunday morning.
